Amazon Shmamazon: KWFamous makes it easy to support local this holiday season with Holiday Pop-Up Shoppe
Over 80 local artists featured to celebrate the spirit of local gift giving
KITCHENER, ON, November 28, 2022 – Downtown Kitchener is getting its own one-stop local gift shop this December. The KWFamous Holiday Pop-Up Shoppe features a curated selection of unique and locally-made products and gifts by over 80 Waterloo Region-based artists, makers, and small businesses.
“Supporting local makers, artists and entrepreneurs is at the core of our KWFamous values, and we want to recognize and celebrate the impact they have in our community,” said Samantha Staresincic, Chief Operations Officer, KWFamous. “All store vendors live and operate in Waterloo Region, so the sale from each purchase is invested directly back into our community.”
The KWFamous Holiday Pop-Up Shoppe is located at 165 King Street West in Downtown Kitchener. It will also feature Instagrammable photo booths, a rooftop Jingle Bar on December 3, offer holiday-themed workshops including card making, paint night and a gingerbread house competition, as well as special event collaborations with local businesses.
“With the possibility of recession, there’s never been a more important time to support local artists,” said Nicole Beno, local artist and shoppe vendor. “Having the opportunity to include inventory in a storefront at a prime location in Downtown Kitchener is a game-changer for artists like me.”
Shoppers are also being encouraged to give back this holiday season by purchasing holiday cards created by the Artshine Arts4All program or by bringing a donation for The Working Centre such as blankets, socks, sleeping bags, and underwear.
This project is generously supported by 165 King Street West and Downtown Kitchener. For shoppe hours and more details, visit kwfamous.com/shoppe.
